EU can stop issuing visas to Russians under 7th sanctions package
BERLIN, Aug 10 (PRIME) -- The E.U. is discussing the seventh package of anti-Russian sanctions, which can include prohibition of issuing Schengen visas to Russia’s residents, official representative of the German government Steffen Hebestreit told reporters on Wednesday.
“We, the E.U, are currently in the process of discussion of what… the seventh package of sanctions should look like and which components it should contain,” he said.
“There is no unified position yet, including position of the federal government how to treat them,” he said when asked whether German Chancellor Olaf Scholz supports the proposals of some E.U. states to prohibit issuing of Schengen visas to Russians under the union’s sanctions policy.
